New Jack pop-ups

 Rutland Garden Centre

On a visit to do some cake research, Angela and Lou met Laurence, the manager of Rutland Garden Centre.  Never one to hang about, it was Angela who dashed across the shop to see if there were any opportunities.

We were invited to Rutland Garden Centre as a bit of try out and that too worked well for both the Jack group and Rutland Garden Centre in December 2015.  Everyone came away with good thoughts and vibes about 2016 events!  A great new location for Jack to pop up into.

So where will Jack pop up next?

If you have any ideas, suggestions and offers of where you’d like to see us, we’d like to know.

History

Once upon a time …

Michael (Sloan Studio Art) had the wonderful notion of organising some pop up art galleries, he shared his idea with Lou (LouPageArt) who also thought it was a fab idea.   After mulling over the who idea as a very positive one to at least try, Angela (Angela Hewson Pottery) was invited, as was the High Priestess of all things wool, Maureen Ake.

Jack goes live …

Lou was chatting to Geoff of Eastwell, who just happened to ask her if she knew of any artists as they were looking for some to fill up the village hall art show at the village fete!  This was fate working its wonderful magic, and the actual event ended up being the first time we’d set out as a group to have a go at showing our art.

The result of this small enquiry was that Geoff filled his spaces and we had started Jack, a little prematurely than was planned maybe, but you don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.

The annual Eastwell Fete (August 2015) saw Mick, Lou, Angela and Maureen join other local artists at the art show.  Yes!

We had also found ourselves a lovely venue, great facilities and one that has the right vibe for us.  This first real Jack outing was really good fun and confirmed to us that we could conjure up other opportunities we wanted to create for ourselves.

Diving in the deep end …

So Jack was launched, now what?  Let’s keep the momentum going – off to our lovely new find, Eastwell village hall again, this time in October.  We invited more arty friends and held our very first proper pop up gallery.

The lovely comments included how much folk liked our art, that it was different from what they’d seen before, and of course the opportunity to sit down with a good brew and enjoy various cakes and sandwiches

Making new friends …

So where will Jack pop up next?

We’re hosting some pop ups in Melton Mowbray, April 23rd at the Samworth Centre;  then back at the Eastwell Fete, 20 August and Eastwell again on 22nd October.  Alongside this there’ll be visits and pop ups with Rutland Garden Centre (11 and 12 June plus 26 and 7 November 2016).

If you have any ideas, suggestions and offers of where you’d like to see us, we’d like to know.
